Last year, the David Suzuki Foundation inspired over 10,000 Canadians to join them in cultivating the ‘nature habit’. They took to the great outdoors and made the effort to spend more time outside with just 30 minutes a day for 30 days in the month of May. Their research showed that participants were sleeping better, felt calmer and less stressed. Impressive results for only a half hour each day!

This month, thousands of Canadians will be swapping screen time for green time and getting their daily dose of nature by joining The One Nature Challenge, and here's why:

Researchers have realized what most of us know intuitively: nature is good for us! Most of us would agree that time spent outside makes us happier, healthier, and less stressed. It is well documented that being regularly immersed in a natural setting, like a park, field or forest, not only lowers negative emotions and feelings like anxiety, but also increases energy, creativity, and even generosity. These are just a few of the many benefits of spending time outside on a daily basis.

Living in the digital age, most of us spend far too much time in front of screens and little time outdoors. It’s time for us all to get outside. Not sure if you need to spend more time outside?
